Cool stuff, a freebie, and mystery....

Well hello there! :)

I haven't had much to share lately because I've been VERY busy working on some projects that I can't share with you just yet, but keep reading because at the bottom of this post I will share a sneak peek of one of them!!

So here's the cool stuff:

Aussie Scrap Source featured some of my layouts on their blog this week! It was all about projects that featured Tim Holtz products - and mine featured Grungeboard and the Texture Hammer. My projects are featured alongside projects by The Master himself, so I'm pretty stoked!! :) You can see the blog post here. The first layout is of my nephew Cody (Hubby's brother's son), and the second is of hubby and I on our wedding day.

In other exciting news, my Security Envelope card from a few posts ago was spotted by a lovely lady called Martine who asked if she could feature it on her "Inspirational" blog. The "Inspirational" blog was created to showcase creations from around the world that Martine and her team find inspirational! So of course I said yes! I am so honoured to be featured there amongst some VERY talented ladies! You can see the post about my card here. The blog is a constant source of eye candy, so check back regularly to be inspired! It is updated pretty much every day!

Now here's the freebie:

I've had over 20 entries this month (and counting!) over at Inkurable Stampers, so I am giving away something to say thank you! Head on over there now and post your comment for your chance to win!

And here's the mystery....

As I mentioned before, I have been busy working on some secret projects! The good news is that all will be revealed in just a few more days - but here is a sneak peek just to whet your appetite!

Thanks to everyone who has been visiting and leaving comments! I love hearing from you all, and I truly appreciate all your support! :)

Extra Extra! Read all about it!

Kim Schofield's challenge for the Justjohanna Earth Day festivities was to use newspaper on your project!

I made this cute little thank you card:

I stamped the butterfly onto newspaper, and then coloured it in with an art marker.

Then, I cut the crossword out of the newspaper and used it as my background.

The butterfly's body is made from Kaisercraft pearls.

I've gone green!

I've gone green for the challenge set by Debbie Scheunemann as part of the Earth Day festivities at the Justjohanna forum!

The challenge was simply to make a green card! Here is my entry:

Do you think it's green enough?? :) LOL!

Justjohanna Earth Day - Top Secret Challenge

One of the challenges as part of the Earth Day celebrations over at the Justjohanna forum was to re-use a security envelope to make a card, tag, etc. Heather Grow set the challenge and you can see her example here.

Here is my take on the challenge:

The pink background paper is made from the security envelope paper - I have coloured it with Tim Holtz distress ink (worn lipstick) and then I ran it through my cuttle bug. I went over the embossing with Walnut Stain distress ink to highlight the pattern.

For the flower section, I left the security envelope blue, and just stamped the Autumn Leaves stamp directly onto it with black ink. I then coloured in the different parts with art markers. I mounted it onto cardstock, then mounted it onto the card.

I also stamped the Heidi Grace "Just for you" sentiment onto the security paper, and mounted it on top of the flower with double sided foam mounting tape.

Keeping with the Earth Day theme, all the cardstock I used was from my scraps bin! :)

It's all about Nic Howard!

Nic Howard is one of my all time favourite scrapbookers, so imagine my delight when Nic was featured this month on Aussie Scrapjacked!! The task was to scraplift this layout by Nic.

Here is my entry:

I've used the "Salem" range of papers by Scenic Route, American Crafts thickers foam letters, Heidi Swapp scrapbook tape, Kaisercraft paper, ribbon, ink, Basic Grey button, brads, and Carolee's creations tiny letter stickers.

Nic Howard has been doing an "All About Me" kid's album on her blog, and has invited everyone to join along! So of course, how could I resist!! So here is my title page:

I've done mine in an 8x8 size. I've used paper from the Boxer range from Basic Grey, KI memories lace cardstock (lovin' this at the moment!!), Heidi Swapp damask sticker, American Crafts Thickers chipboard letters, ribbon, ink, Bazzill cardstock, and Carolee's Creations letter stickers.

I've gotta get a move on with this album - Jess turns 5 in three weeks!! LOL!!

I've had 10 entries so far over at Inkurable Stampers, and they are looking great! If you haven't sent your entry in, be quick! You only have until midnight on the 30th of April to get your wing themed entries in to be eligible to win one of the fantastic prizes up for grabs from our sponsors! Mel's Savvy Scraplift - April '08.

Here is my example for Mel's Savvy Scraplift for April. This month our task was to scraplift a layout from the gallery by Karen. You can see Karen's layout here.

This is my take on the challenge:

I have used:

* Cosmo Cricket Cogsmo patterned paper
* Cosmo Cricket journaling tag
* American Crafts Thickers chipboard letters
* Grungeboard shapes
* Basic Grey buttons (periphery)
* CC letter stickers
* American Crafts Ribbon
* Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut stain
* Bazzill cardstock
* Kindyglitz

Here is a close up of the Grungeboard shapes:

First I inked them, and then I coated them with a thick layer of Kindyglitz to give them some sparkle so that they looked like fireworks!

I love these papers from Cosmo Cricket! And here's the good news - the entire Cosmo Cricket range (even the brand new stuff!) is 25% off until the end of April at Scrapbook Savvy!! Grab a bargain here before it's all sold out!

April Cybercrop Challenge #1!

This weekend is our 2nd Cybercrop at Scrapbook Savvy.

Mel is running it this month, and it has an "April" theme. We've been having heaps of fun chatting and playing games over the past 2 days! :)

Challenge #1 was to create a layout about an April Fools day prank we'd been involved in, or a time when we've felt foolish. I'm always doing silly things to amuse myself, so I chose to scrap about that! We also had to use old eyelets from our stash and use the word "Fool" in the title.

Here is my take on the challenge (if you click on the picture it will enlarge it so you can read the journaling):

I scrapped in 8.5"x11" format so the page can go into my "Book of Me" album.

I used the "Colour Me Silly" range by Basic Grey - the colour and the name of the collection fit perfectly with the theme of the page! LOL!!

The chipboard letters are American Crafts Thickers - I love these so much I got them in 3 different colours!

I've also used a German Scrap Border down the left hand side. I'm loving these at the moment!

Thanks for looking!

April 08 Photo Challenge!

This month, Renee D's Photo Challenge was to create a monochrome photo.

Here is my example:

I took this photo around this time last year - it is part of a sand sculpture from an exhibit at Fox Studios.

I converted the photo to Sepia, although the original colour of the image (being sand) was very similar!

So if you are looking for some challenges to build your photographic skills, check out Renee's monthly photo challenges at Scrapbook Savvy.

SIA Trade Show!

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week I was out at the SIA Trade Show (Scrapbooking Industry Australia) out at Homebush.

Sponsored by Scrapbook Creations, Scrapbooking Memories, Creative Living media (For Keeps) and Compendium, the event showcased over 40 Australian Companies, including Manufacturers and Distributers. There were new product releases from Australian & Overseas designers, as well as International and Australian guest teachers, media personalities and awarding winning speakers. There were exhibits, creative workshop classes, business seminars, demonstrations and booth make the takes.

I was working at one of the exhibitor booths, so I was lucky enough to get to meet lots of people from the industry and see all the great Australian companies and their products.

The highlight for me was the "Collections" stand. Their display creations were absolutely AWESOME! They let me take photos, so I'm excited to be able to share them with you!

Now, I'm not sure exactly who created each piece, but they were all made by people on the "Collections" staff and/or design team. If anyone knows the name of the person who made any of them please leave a comment and let us know!

So here are the pics - feast your eyes!:

Can you tell I'm obsessed with Owls now?!! These photos don't even do them justice - each piece was so amazing - this is just a sample of the things they had on display - I was so blown away by how gorgeous everything was!

My other favourite was ScrapFX. I was lucky enough to get to know Pam and Jill quite well over the 2 days - they are such lovely ladies! And of course, now I want one of everything from their range!! LOL!! Unfortunately I didn't get any pics of their stand, but you can see their range here. Awesome stuff. And they have a very talented design team, so make sure you check out the gallery while you're there.

Whilst I was there I met Ngaire Bartlam, Suze Doyle, and Loretta Grayson - all of whom are such lovely friendly ladies! I also caught up with Kristy Evans (editor) and Joanna Romanowski from Scrapbooking memories and had a long chat with them! Got some tips on getting more stuff published, so fingers crossed! LOL!

I also caught up with my friend Rachel Greig and her Hubby Stewart while I was there - they were there exhibiting their new Darkroom Door range of goodies - check out my Inkurable Stampers blog for the pic.

Well, that's it from me for this post - it's way long enough as it is! I'll be back in the next couple of days to share pics of my layout in the current edition of Scrapbooking memories.

Until then.....

Sarah's Random Challenge! April '08.

Can you believe another month has flown by already!

Mother's day is fast approaching, so this month I decided that my random challenge would be an off the page item, in case anyone wanted to make something nice for their mum! Or not - you can give it to anyone you like - or even keep it for yourself!

Your challenge is to create a decorative item for the home. But here's the catch - you must use a bird of some sort!

I made a wall hanging - here is a pic of it at full length (click on pic to enlarge):

And here is a close up of the top part:

I have used:

* Basic Grey Recess patterned paper #
* 1 x page from Kaisercraft victorian tag mini album #
* Comso Cricket Fleuriste blackboard #
* ScrapFX birdie #
* Love You More Gem #
* October Afternoon rub on letters #
* Kaisercraft flowers #
* Basic Grey buttons
* Inks, embossing powder
* Ribbon
* Grungeboard plain sheets (swirls) that I cut into flower shapes using a template. #

All items marked with a # are available in the Scrapbook Savvy store.

I made the Grungeboard look like leather by inking it with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. First I used "Spiced Marmalade", then I highlighted the embossing with "Fired Brick". I then rubbed over it with my finger and a sponge dauber which gave it the leathery look.

I inked the birdie with some sand coloured ink, and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I'm totally loving the Cosmo Cricket Blackboard at the moment! You've gotta get yourself some of that stuff.

For your chance to be in the running for a $10.00 Scrapbook Savvy Voucher, you must upload your entry in the gallery by Midnight 30th April.

Good luck!

~Sarah~
