Grunge Challenge!

Well I finally got around to doing Renee C's technique challenge for June! This month the task was to create a grunge layout - and not to hold back!

I had heaps of fun creating this heritage grunge layout! I even went so far as to listen to grunge music when I was creating - and I think it helped! LOL! (Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" album for anyone who's interested!).

I have used:

* Kaisercraft patterned paper (grunge range).
* Grungeboard letters.
* TH Distress Embossing powder (walnut stain).
* TH Distress Inks - Walnut stain, Vintage Photo, Old Paper.
* TH Crackle paint - Peeled Paint.
* Printblocks screw brads
* Black ink, staples bazzill cardstock.

I crumpled one of the background papers, then went over the creases with Versamark ink and embossed with Tim Holtz Distress embossing powder - Walnut Stain. This gave the paper a great grungy look with a fabulous rough sandpaper like texture.

You can see it here in this close up (click to enlarge):

I distressed the edges of the same piece of paper with my edge distresser tool, ripping the paper in random places. Where rips occurred I used staples to add interest and keep with the distressed theme. You can also see in this photo that I have used my Tim Holtz Texture Hammer to beat up the screw brads to give them a worn look. I have also distressed the edges of the photo mats, and scratched around the edges of my photos and inked them with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Here's another close up of some more grungey goodness (click to enlarge):

I coated the Grungeboard letters with TH Distress Crackle Paint (Peeled Paint colour), then highlighted the cracks by rubbing Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress inks into each letter. I used a grunge font for the journaling, and aged the paper using "Old Paper" and "Vintage Photo" distress inks.

I just love these photos of my dad and my uncle when they were kids! I have wanted to scrap them for so long, and I'm glad I got to use them for this challenge as I think they go great with the theme!

Thanks for looking!

Greetings Earthling! I've been tagged!

Ok - as promised here is one more card that I made with the Odd Bird Planet range of stamps!

I like how the colouring of the images is scratchy - matches with the childlike feel of the images!

I have used "Rocket", "Cupcake Creature", and "Greetings Earthling". I have also used watercolour pencils, Bazzill cardstock, ink, and brads.

Ok - now for some fun stuff! I have been "tagged" by a fellow Savvy chatter, Charmaine. My first ever tagging!

Here's how it works. Answer the questions about yourself. At the end of your post, tag another 4 people & post their names. Go to their blogs & leave a comment letting them know they've been tagged. Let the person who tagged you know that you have posted your answers.

Q3: Snacks I enjoy......chip & dip, rice crackers, chocolate.

Q4: Things I would do if I was a millionaire..... Pay off our debts, Buy a fabulous house, put money away for the kids when they get older, give a big chunk of money to a charity for sick kids.

More OBP Cards!

I'm back with some more cards that I made with stamps from Odd Bird Planet.

This Clown Card would be cute as a birthday card for a child, or to use as a children's birthday party invite:
It measures 9.5 x 11cms. I have used the "Clown Head" stamp for this one. I have also used Bazzill Cardstock and watercolour pencils.

Next is this card which would be nice for an invite to afternoon tea!

This card measures 13cms x 10cms. I have used the "Kim's Cupcake" and "I Heart Cupcakes" stamps on this card. I have also used Bazzill Cardstock (the orange layer has been embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder), ribbon, brads, watercolour pencils, and foam mounting tape.

Thanks for looking!

I'll be back tomorrow with one more to share! :)

What Sarah Needs!

I was blurfing tonight (blog surfing - add it to your vocab! LOL!) and came across something I found amusing, so I thought I'd do it too!

You do a google search for your name followed by "needs" (e.g. "Sarah needs") and then post the top 10 results on your blog! Now, whilst you do need to be prepared for the inevitable porn phrases, there are some hilarious ones that will make you giggle out loud when you apply them to your life!! LMAO!! So here's mine: (I chose the "pages from Australia" google search).

1. Sarah needs answers. (Don't we all!).
2. Sarah needs a life. (Um...Yeah!).
3. Sarah needs Sarah needs to know your medical history, your lifestyle, your daily diet, exercise, stress levels as well as current medications and Tests such as urine testing, zinc levels, blood pressure are frequently done during a first consultation. (That Sarah is a Naturopath!).
4. Sarah needs to explore these feelings of being compelled to overspend to feel a sense of self worth, self-gratification and personal identity and how this behaviour is affecting those around her. (This Sarah was in therapy).
5. Sarah needs assistance to maintain her tenancy, as she will be unable to cope with the stressors of illness, disability and independent living. (This Sarah was a prisoner on parole!).
6. Sarah needs support.
7. When Sarah needs inspiration all she has to do is jump on her motorbike and drive. (Bwahaha!).
8. Sarah needs to ensure her running shoes are appropriately fitted for her foot type and running needs and will particularly need shoes with considerable forefoot cushioning. (This Sarah is a recreational athlete!).
9. Sarah needs a man and she will do anything to get one. (BWAAAAAAHAAHAHAHAHA!).
10. Sarah needs to continue this skin care routine so she can continue nursing. (WTF?)

And then there's #11 which I think I like the best....

11. What Sarah needs to do is have a few drinks and party with us!

Yes! Pass the yard glass! LMAO!!

Please - try this yourself and post it on your blog! Leave me a message so I can check it out and have a giggle too! :)

Worldwide Stamping Week!

June 14th - 21st is Worldwide stamping Week at 2Peas!

I've been hosting the "Skulls and Bones" challenge and there have been some great entries so far!

Here are the examples that I made for my challenge:

I have used the Lovely Skull and Bones stamp and the You Rock (whimsy) stamp, both by justjohanna's Odd Bird Planet.

I used "Worn Lipstick" distress ink for the background and MM metal mesh and some screw brads as embellishments. I have also used foam mounting tape for dimension.

You can check out the other cool skull stamps by Odd Bird Planet here.

I have also taken on Rachel Greig's Darkroom Door "Doors" challenge!

I created a fold out ATC Diptych!

This is the front:

I used plain Grungeboard sheets to make the cover. I inked them with Tim Holtz Distress ink (Peeled Paint) and stamped them with a crackle texture stamp by Inkadinkadoo. I used grungeboard door hinges and a collections chipboard keyhole which I covered with Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder (Walnut Stain).

This is the inside:
I created the background with "Vintage Photo" and "Walnut Stain" distress inks using the "Wrinkle Free Distress" and "Spritz and Flick" techniques. I then stamped the images on it with black Archival Ink. The tree and birds stamps I have used are from Tim Holtz (Stampers Anonymous), and the "Dream" stamp is from the "Little Dreams" stamp set by Darkroom Door.

You can see more photos of my project here in the 2Peas gallery!

Thanks for looking! Enjoy your weekend!

I've got a bust weekend of scrapbooking and stamping planned, so I will have lots to share over the next few days! Stay tuned!

HOOTERS!

LMAO! Now that got your attention didn't it!?!! But it's not what you think! LOL!

Just sharing a few projects that I have done recently with Owls! I love owls at the moment - they're everywhere and I can't get enough of them! :)

Recently it was Diane's birthday (owner of Scrapbook Savvy) so all the DT girls got together to get her a prezzie! We got her some gift vouchers, so I decided to decorate the front of the envelope. Here it is:

Since there is 6 of us now on the DT, I used 6 different owls! (Congratulations to Julie Heard - our newest DT member!!). It's funny guessing who is who!! LOL!! Pun intended! :)

The papers are from Sassafrass Lass (Owl Pals range), the white border is a Hambly Screen Prints transparency frame, and the letters are by Carolee's Creations.

I also got the girls to make a card each for Diane - here is mine:

That owl is a Maya Road clear stamp - I love it! I used Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder to give them some texture. The branch they're sitting on is made from bazzill cardstock that I have scratched into to make it look like a stick. Again, the letters are from CC.

I used Kaisercraft Pearls for the eyes to add dimension and interest.

I also decorated the inside of the card - a first for me! See - that article in Stamping and Papercraft magazine really struck a chord! LOL!

So there you have it! Hooterrific! LOL! :)

Tonight is our "Black Friday" themed Cybercrop at Scrapbook Savvy, so make sure you pop along and join in the fun! Details can be found here. There is an AWESOME participation RAK up for grabs from Kerryn, the host, so make sure you check it out!

Also, tomorrow is the beginning of World Wide Stamping week! I will be running a special week long "Skulls and Bones" themed challenge over at Inkurable Stampers, and there will be a great prize up for grabs from Odd Bird Planet! You can see the details here, but check out the site tomorrow for the full set of criteria and participation instructions. I can't wait - it's going to be fun! :)

Sarah's Random Challenge! June '08.

It's that time again already! Time for my new Scrapbook Savvy Random Challenge!

Your challenge this month is to create a set of three cards using the same range of paper and to have common embellishments in all three cards.

But wait - there's more! In honour of the Queen's birthday long weekend this month, and the birthday of our very own Savvy Queen, Diane, one of your cards must be a birthday card!

Here is my example (click on image for larger version):
The cards can be for any occasion you like - you can even make all 3 birthday cards - whatever takes your fancy!!

I have used the MME "Just Dreamy, Star Bright Paper Kit" (which includes diecuts) as my paper range, with American Crafts Thickers and Kaisercraft Pearls as my common embellishments.

Here's the full materials list:

* MME patterned papers and die cuts from the Just Dreamy, Star Bright Paper Kit
* Bazzill Cardstock
* American Crafts Thickers chipboard letters
* Kaisercraft Pearls
* Heidi Swapp Flowers
* Kaisercraft "love" stamp from the "circles" set
* MME - 29th Street Market, Cheerful Words Transparency
* Ink, ZIG writer, adhesives.

Here is a close up of the flower embellishment on the "Love" card:
You can see close ups of all three cards in the June Random Challenge Gallery.

Need some inspiration? I used Becky Fleck's Cardmaps as inspiration to create the designs of my cards. Check out the huge range of card maps available here.

Too easy!

Upload your cards by midnight 30th June 2008 for your chance to win a $10.00 Scrapbook Savvy Voucher!

Have fun! I look forward to seeing what everyone creates!
