The scrap drought has broken!

It's been aaaaaaaaages since I've done a scrapbooking layout! What with work, Christmas, moving house, and my daughter starting school, I just haven't had the time!

Well, I am pleased to say the drought has broken, and I have created my first scrapbook page for 2009!

My cousin (the woman in the picture) asked me to do a layout for her to give as a gift to her god-daughter (the baby in the photo) who has just turned 21! My only instructions were "Purple" and "Butterflies"!

Now, butterflies I have plenty of, but I don't have a lot of purple papers in my whopping stash! LOL! But I eventually found some from the Basic Grey "Oh Baby" range from years ago that suited the layout perfectly.

Here is a close up:

I have used:

* Basic Grey papers
* Kaisercraft rub ons and Rhinestones
* Flowers
* Carolee's Creations tiny letter stickers
* Metal butterfly
* Scenic Route chipboard letters
* Ink

Here is a close up of the metal butterfly:

Thanks for looking! :)

Pixma Adventures - Part 5.

Well, I've been playing with the Pixma MP980 again! :)

This time I've used the T-shirt transfers on an actual t-shirt! LOL!

I wanted to make a t-shirt for my 2 year old niece Abbey. My sister is a big Beatles fan, and Abbey was named after their Abbey Road album - so that was my inspiration!

Here's what I came up with:

Please excuse the daggy crocheted coat hanger! LOL!!

I created the image in Photoshop using a Rhonna Farrer brush, and an Abbey Road image I downloaded off the internet (copyright free). Here is a close up:

I printed it out onto the t-shirt transfer, and then cut around the edges before ironing it to the front of the t-shirt. On the same piece of paper, I also printed a little coloured image for the back of the t-shirt:

She's going to be the coolest little girl in town! LOL! :)

My sister is gonna flip when she sees it - I'm sending it off tomorrow, so hopefully it will reach her before she looks at my blog! LOL!

Bits and Pieces!

There are a few different bits and pieces I want to share today!

First up, Kerryn tagged me with a fun photo game! Here's what you have to do:

Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your digital photos.

1. Pick the 6th Folder, then select the the 6th picture in that folder.

2. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.

3. Tag 6 other people that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

OK, so here's the photo:

LOL!! This photo of Oscar was taken on last May at Jessica's 5th Birthday Party. No real story - just a very cheeky 2 year old! LOL!!

OK girls - now it's your turn! I'm tagging Sandie, Renee C, Sarah T, Vicky, Jill GG, and Renee L.

Next is a sneak peek of something that I created for one of Ngaire's Top 10 Features in Scrapbook Creations magazine:

Can't show you the full project yet, or tell you the theme of the article, but I can tell you to keep an eye out in Scrapbook Creations Issue 67! :)

And last but not least, I have received another blog award!

The "Creative Funky Friend" award has been given to me by Renee Ludlow. Thanks heaps Renee! :)

That's all for now! I'll be back tomorrow with some pics of a very funky T-shirt that I created for my Niece using the Pixma! :)

Skywatch Friday - 13/02/08.

It's time to cast our eyes skyward again for another round of Skywatch Friday!

Today I'm sharing some pics that I took on the 3rd February. The kids were outside blowing bubbles, and the clouds were rolling in about to bring lots of rain!

I managed to capture one bubble as it ascended skyward:

The bubble in the next photo is a little harder to see. Can you spot it?

It's just above the tree on the right hand side. :)

That's it from me! To see more great sky shots from around the globe, visit the Skywatch Website.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pixma Adventures - Part 4.

I just wanted to share this great idea that I had for using the Canon T-shirt Transfers in a slightly different way!

My daughter started school last week, and the day before I realised that I didn't have any clothing labels with her name on them for the inside of her uniforms! So, I went straight to my computer and designed my own, and printed them on the T-Shirt Transfers using the Pixma MP980!

This is a really great way to use your favourite fonts, colours, and even pictures for your child's personalised clothing labels!

First, I chose the font I wanted, and a little flower image, and then created the image for the label. Then, using Photoshop, I repeated the image as many times as I could on an A4 file size.

Here's what it looked like when I printed it out:

Now that's the cool part - when you select "T-Shirt Transfer" in the paper type menu when you are printing, the printer will automatically print the image you have selected backwards so that when you iron it on it is the right way around! Too easy!

So then all I had to do was cut out the labels, and iron them on to her uniforms!

Check it out:

How cool is that? Now I have an infinite number of labels at my disposal - and I've saved money by making them myself instead of buying the expensive ones you see advertised! And if I get sick of that font, or want to change colours, I have the file on my compter and can change it whenever I like! Fabulous!

So there you have it - another way to get the most out of your home photo printer!

Blog Award!

A while back I received a blog award, and just realised I haven't shared it yet! :)

Shirley Fyfe, Renee Dowling, and Vicky Fernando all awarded me with the "Proximity Award":

These three ladies are very talented, and have become good friends! I urge you to check out their blogs - lots of eye candy! On to the award:

"These blogs believe and invest in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers, who must choose eight more and include this cleverly written text into the body of their awards".

Thank you ladies for such a lovely award! :)

I really love getting blog awards, and really appreciate them! But I hate having to pass them on! It's too hard to narrow it down, and they're a little too close to chain mail for my liking. :) So I'm going to be a bit of a party pooper and not pass it on to specific people. I have a number of my favourite blogs in my sidebar - please check out the blogs that have made my faves list and enjoy! :)

Inkurable Stampers - February Challenge!

This month, the challenge I have set over at Inkurable Stampers is "Soot Stamping" - i.e. create a project using the Soot Stamping technique. I've put a full tutorial on the blog (with pictures), so don't worry if you've never heard of it! You'll soon have the hang of it and I promise you'll have lots of fun with it!

Here is a card and an ATC that I have made as examples:

And here is another ATC:

Full challenge details and more pics of my examples can be found here.

This is a really fun technique, so I hope you'll all give it a go and join in the fun this month! :)
